Day 1 :Arrival

Arrival at the airport you will be welcomed by your driver guide and you will do a city trip in Kigali and visit places of interest like the several genocide sites and the Rwanda Museum among others. Rwanda is globally known for the 1994 genocide that claimed the lives of over 800,000 people in 100 days. However, the country has now stabilized, peace has been restore and is ranked as the safest country in Africa thanks to the visionary leadership of H.E Paul Kagame and the togetherness of Rwandase who have worked together to transform Rwanda into an exceptional destination. For those who do not know, genocide was a massive slaughtering of the people in Rwanda that belonged to the two ethnic groups of the Tutsi and the Hutus You will have lunch in the city and dinner at your lodge. Dinner and overnight at frame tree lodge.


Day 2 : Kigali to Lake Kivu

After breakfast ,We drive through Kigali as we head  to Gisenyi town which is located on the shores of Lake Kivu. Upon arrival, have lunch and head for the boat ride around the different fishing villages. Dinner and overnight stay at Paradise Malahide

 

Day 3 : Transfer to Kibuye
After breakfast, you will tour around Gisenyi town and then later transfer to Kibuye town on the other side of Lake Kivu. You can transfer either by speed boat ride or by vehicle ride. You will either way enjoy your journey since you will pass through picturesque areas hence making it enjoyable. Dinner and overnight stay at Kibuye Guest House

 

Day 4 : Transfer to Akagera National park

After an early morning breakfast, we shall drive off to Akagera National park. The varied terrain shelters wildlife including zebras, giraffes, elephants, lions and hundreds of bird species, such as the rare shoebill stork. In the southern part of the park, vast Lake Ihema is home to hippos and crocodiles. We will arrive in time for lunch and after lunch we head for the afternoon game drive where we shall view all the above mentioned game. Dinner and overnight at Ruzizi tented lodge.


Day 5  : Transfer to the Volcanoes N. park

After breakfast, we shall drive to the Parc National des Volcans / Volcanoes national park. The Park borders  the Congo and the Bwindi Impenetrable National park of Uganda. Those are the sites that are home to the endemic gorillas. We may arrive in the afternoon and then we can visit the famous dian fossey tomb. The Dian Fossey Tomb is situated 30 minutes’ drive from the Volcanoes park headquarters and to the trailhead to the Karisoke Research Camp. You will start the trek through the forest taking between an hour and a half and three hours, depending on your fitness. Dinner and overnight stay at La Bambou gorilla village.


Day 6 : Gorilla tracking

After an early morning breakfast with your packed lunch, Carry your gorilla permit and passport with you as you leave your hotel that morning and make sure that you have packed all the necessary gears like gloves, trekking boots, long sleeved wear, rain jackets, snacks and packed lunch, walking stick (very necessary), among others. After a quick briefing on safety measures and what to expect during the day, you will be grouped in groups of 8 people maximum and each group is assigned one gorilla family to trek. It is usually a full day activity. Return later in the evening at the lodge. Dinner and overnight as above.


Day 7 : Transfer back to the airport for return flight

After a relaxed breakfast, we shall  head back to the airport for return flight and if time allows we may visit the twin lakes of Burere and Ruhondo. This will depend on the time for your return flight.
