Climb kilimanjaro 7-day via machame route

The Machame Route is one of the popular trekking routes for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. It's known for its scenic beauty and relatively high success rate in reaching the summit. The standard Machame Route typically takes six or seven days to complete. The seven-day Machame Route is a more gradual ascent, allowing trekkers more time to acclimatize, which can improve their chances of successfully reaching the summit.

Here's a basic itinerary for the seven-day Machame Route:

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi

• Arrival in Moshi, Tanzania.
• Transfer to your hotel/lodge for an overnight stay.
• Briefing and preparation for the trek.

Day 2: Machame Gate to Machame Camp (Hike)

• After breakfast and a briefing, drive to Machame Gate (1,800 meters/5,905 feet).
• Register at the gate, meet your guides and porters, and start the trek.
• Hike through the rainforest to Machame Camp (approximately 3,000 meters/9,840 feet).
• Overnight camping at Machame Camp.

Day 3: Machame Camp to Shira Camp

• Leave Machame Camp and ascend through the heather and moorland.
• Pass the Shira Plateau and reach Shira Camp (3,840 meters/12,600 feet).
• Stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro are visible from this campsite.
• Overnight camping at Shira Camp.

Day 4: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp

• Today involves a trek across Shira Plateau.
• Ascend to Lava Tower (4,630 meters/15,190 feet) for acclimatization.
• Descend to Barranco Camp (3,950 meters/12,960 feet) for overnight camping.

Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

• Begin with a challenging climb up the Barranco Wall.
• Traverse through alpine desert terrain.
• Reach Karanga Camp (4,035 meters/13,270 feet) for overnight camping.

Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

• Ascend through rocky and barren landscape.
• Reach Barafu Camp (4,600 meters/15,090 feet), the base camp for the summit.
• Rest, have an early dinner, and prepare for the summit attempt.
• You'll start the summit trek during the late evening or early night.

Day 7: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak, then descend to Mweka Camp

• Begin the summit attempt around midnight.
• Ascend to Stella Point (5,685 meters/18,650 feet) and then to Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters/19,341 feet), the highest point in Africa!
• Take in the sunrise and the accomplishment at the summit.
• Descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest.
• Continue the descent to Mweka Camp (3,100 meters/10,170 feet) for overnight camping.

Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate, then transfer back to Moshi

• Descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate.
• Collect your summit certificates and bid farewell to your guides and porters.
• Transfer back to Moshi for celebrations and relaxation.
