General overview

This tour will immerse you into Uganda’s birding spot highlights right from Entebbe city to areas like Entebbe botanical gardens hotel, Uganda wildlife education center, Mabamba swamp, Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Lake Mburo National Park. This birding excursion will provide an opportunity to explore the important bird areas mentioned below: wetlands, savanna grasslands, rivers and lakes, forests spotting a thousand varieties of birds as you trail the must bird see sites of the pearl of Africa. Expect to spot amazing floras and faunas. The lifetime stunning memories are guaranteed!

Day1: Entebbe City Birding

Upon your arrival at Entebbe international airport, our professional birding guide will warmly welcome you. Thereafter have refreshments and take Entebbe city tour to the Entebbe botanical gardens, Uganda wildlife education center.
The following bird species include: Ruff, Wood, Common, Marsh Sandpipers, Common Green Shank, Long-tailed and Great Cormorants, Madagascar Bee-eater, Green Crombec, Orange weaver, Great Blue, and Ross’s Turacos, Red Chested, Klaas’s, and Died rick Cuckoo, Great Reed, Grey Capped, Sedge, Greater Swamp and Eurasian Reed Warblers, Fain Tailed Widow bird, Striped, Malachite, Giant, Woodland, and Pygmy Kingfishers, Golden and Yellow-backed weavers, Superb Sunbird, Bare-faced go-away-bird, Ross’s and Great blue Turacos, Grey and Brown Parrots, Palm Swift, Little Swift, Entebbe Weaver (an endemic to Uganda that was recorded at the site only once), White-spotted Flufftail. Dinner and overnight at Entebbe botanical resort or Entebbe airport view guest house. Meal plan: Half-Board

Day2: Mabamba wetland – Lutembe bay

Have our morning breakfast and pack some snacks, after our guide, we shall have an insight into the list of birds of Uganda. Thereafter start the morning visit to the Mabamba Bay which is a very Important Birding Area. The emphasis at this site will be focused on the Shoebill Stork, one of the threatened species in Uganda and other African regions.
Apart from the shoebill this wetland habits other birdlife species which include: the Lesser Jacana and the African, Purple Swamphen, Reed Warblers, Pygmy and Spur Winged Goose, African Marsh Harrier, Rufous Bellied Heron. Drive back to the Hotel for your relaxation and later have Lunch. After driving to Lutembe bay beach along Entebbe – Kampala highway to spot a variety of birdlife species.
This experience is much stunning as you explore and spot a various variety of birds like Caspian tern, Great knot, Hottentots teal, Temminck’s stint, Broad-billed Sandpipers, which are vagrant visitors in addition to the masses of ducks and waders, African Grey Parrots, Broad Billed Roller, Grey Woodpecker, Klaas’s, Died rick and Red Chested Cuckoo, Superb, Red Chested, Scarlet Chested, Collard, Green Throated and Copper Sunbird, Orange, Spotted Backed, Black Headed, Slender Billed, and Golden Backed Weaver among others. Then drive to Kampala at Emin pasha lodge, Serena Hotel, Cassia lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: Full-Board

Day3: Kampala-Lake Mburo National Park

Today we shall have morning breakfast, thereafter drive western Uganda via Masaka-Mbarara highway. Amazing stopover at the Uganda equator for an amazing photo take, informative talks, shop snacks, and after proceed to Lake Mburo National Park the Tanzanian plains.
Lunch at the lodge, go for an evening game drive to spot wildlife and birds like Impalas, Elands, Zebras, Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, warthogs, Temminck’s Courser, Martial Eagle, Ruppell’s Griffon, White Headed, Lappet Faced Vultures, Rufous-bellied Heron, Lesser Jacana and Moorhen, Harlequin Quail from Kaaku swamp among others respectively. Dinner and overnight at Mihingo Lodge, Mburo safari lodge, Arcadia Cottages, or Mburo tents. Meal plan: Full-Board.

Day4: Foot Safari-Boat ride

Today we shall have early morning heavy breakfast, after with our English or another language professional bird guide we trail into the tropical forest while birding and fauna-flora viewing, birdlife species expected to be spotted include: Coqui and Crested Francolin, Temminck’s Courser, Martial Eagle, Ruppell’s Griffon, White Headed, Lappet Faced Vultures, Rufous-bellied Heron, Lesser Jacana and Moorhen, Harlequin Quail, Red-faced Barbet, Red-Headed Weaver.
Return to the lodge for refreshment and have your heavy lunch and after in the afternoon prepare to go for a boat cruise along Lake Mburo to search for the water birds among them include: African Fin feet, pelican bee-eaters, vultures, swallows, and much more species. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: Full-Board

Day5: Lake Mburo – Queen Elizabeth National Park

After morning breakfast, take an en-route drive with a spot of more fauna and Avi species, and after departing to Queen Elizabeth National Park, lunch en-route at the lodge. An afternoon boat ride on Kazinga channel where we get close to big schools of Hippos, Crocodiles, water birds like the African Spoonbill, African skimmer, pelican bee-eaters, warblers, swallows, vultures, sparrow hawk among other water birds. Evening visit to Katwe Crater Lake to watch the flamingos as the sun is setting off.
Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge, Katara Lodge, Enganzi lodge, Hippo hill camp, or Simba camp or Mweya Hostel. Meal plan: Full-Board

Day6: Queen Elizabeth National Park.

.Have breakfast, thereafter take whole day birding experience to search for Savanna birds like the Small (Common) Buttonquail, African Crake, Martial Eagle, African Skimmer, Verreaux’s Eagle-Owl, Black Headed Gonolek, Amur Falcon, Ovambo Sparrow hawk, Lowland Akalat, Greater and Lesser Flamingo and Temminck’s Courser, Temminck’s Courser, Martial Eagle, Ruppell’s Griffon, White Headed, Lappet Faced Vultures, Harlequin Quail, Blue Quail, more animals will be spotted. Return to the lodge for lunch and relax at the lodge. Meal plan: Full-Board

Day7: Kyambura Gorge-Kampala

After breakfast, take a foot safari/ nature walk in Kyambura gorge, and in this sector variety of Avi, faunas and floras are at much closure. Return to the lodge for lunch and after drive back to Entebbe international airport to board your flight back home.
