Day 2: Arusha National Park

In the morning, we will collect you at Mount Meru Game Lodge and take you to the Arusha National Park. The park has an incredible variety of fauna and flora, which cannot fail to impress. Hollywood also chose this region to film the movie “Hatari” in which Hardy Kruger starred alongside the legendary John Wayne. Your day trip will include a visit to the Ngurdo Crater. Buffaloes, waterbucks, giraffes, warthogs, zebras and baboons can be seen all year round as well as many different bird species. At the Momella Gate, an armed ranger will be waiting for you to accompany you on your walking safari that will give you the chance to experience the wildlife up-close. Only a few other national parks in Tanzania give you such an opportunity and it is something that should not be missed. Lunch will be taken at a picnic place and in the afternoon, you will continue your tour in the safari vehicle through the Arusha National Park. After plenty of time allocated for you to observe the wildlife, we will take you back to Mount Meru Game Lodge. Dinner, lunch, breakfast included.

After a leisurely breakfast your safari adventure begins. We drive to Tarangire National Park – home of the highest population of elephants, pride of lions, and over 400 species of birds. During the dry season, Tarangire is home to huge herds of buffalo and is inundated with zebra and wildebeest. There are long vistas and a baobab studded landscape that is the perfect backdrop for taking photos. These three days will be spent unearthing the many yet to be discovered nooks and crannies of the park. Each day, we’ll find a new place in the great outdoors to have a relaxing lunch and then continue our game drive until the African sun begins to wane. Overnight at Tarangire Oliver’s Camp - a peaceful and rustic retreat where wildlife is only a breath away. Dinner, breakfast, lunch is included.

Day 5: Lake Manyara National Park

After an early breakfast, we drive to the beautiful and intimate Lake Manyara National Park for a full day of game viewing. The park is famous for its magnificent array of bird life and its impressively large elephant population. Soda Lake, located on the floor of the Rift Valley and next to a strikingly dramatic escarpment, attracts the breathtakingly elegant and delicate flamingos and pelicans, as well as countless species of hornbills, kingfishers, and the eye-catchingly peculiar hamerkop. The park is also home to olive baboon, vervet monkey, giraffe, hippo, African buffalo, impala, and pride of lions. The varied and diverse ecosystems within the park make for a unique experience. In the evening we climb the escarpment to the town of Karatu for your overnight at Sanctuary Escarpment Luxury Lodge. A lavish accommodation in the Rift Valley escarpment that offers panoramic views in all directions. Dinner, breakfast and lunch is included.

Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater

Today you’ll have an all-day excursion to the World Heritage Site - Ngorongoro Crater - for game viewing on the crater floor. The crater is the home of the largest African mammals. Here is one of the few remaining places where it is possible to encounter the highly endangered black rhino. It is also possible to see elephants (mostly lone or “bachelor” bulls), pride of lions, hippos, a resident herd of wildebeest, zebra, various gazelles, and buffalo. We will have lunch at the water’s edge, and then we’ll ascend back to the crater rim seeing more game along the way. Our day ends with a soothing shower, dinner, and relaxing. Overnight at Ngorongoro Lemala Luxury Tented Camp. Seated at the highest point on the crater’s rim and offering you supreme views. Dinner, breakfast, lunch included.

Day 9: Olduvai Gorge to Serengeti National Park

We make our way to the Southern Serengeti Plains with a stop for a culturally-enriching tour of the museum at Olduvai Gorge. The gorge is the site of years of tireless research into the anthropology of early man by the famous Leakey family and prominent universities. The museum is situated on the site of archaeological digs taking place throughout this, and the last, century. The site was made famous by the Leakey’s and some of the amazing hominid finds such as Australopithecus bosei or “Nutcracker Man” (because of his very large teeth and jaws) and Homo habilis (a hominid named for his handy abilities with tools found around the site). We then trek onwards to the Serengeti National Park, game driving and stopping for a picnic along the way. We arrive at our camp in the Seronera area in time for a shower before dinner. Overnight at Kubu Kubu Tented Luxury Camp, a quaint haven nestled in the Serengeti known for its simple elegance and warm hospitality. Dinner, breakfast, lunch included.

Day 10-13: Full days to see the great migration crossing the Mara river

These days are devoted to full game drives with many opportunities to get that “perfect shot” with your camera. The Serengeti is one of the most stunning wildlife sanctuaries in the world. The name comes from the Maasai word “siri nget” meaning “endless plains”. The wildebeest migration continues moving northwards during July and August, often spreading out across a broad front: some heading through Grumeti Reserve and Ikorongo, others north through the heart of the Serengeti National Park. At the end of each day, we drive to Mara Mara Tented Lodge, a luxurious Lodge that is the perfect place to relax and is the corridor for migration. Dinner, breakfast, lunch, and drinks are included. Mara Mara Tented Lodge is the closest Lodge to the river Mara where each year enormous columns of wildebeest cross the river, negotiating the jaws of the hungry crocodiles, in order to get to the pastures on the other side in what could be considered the climax of the Great Migration.
