Full day tour of the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, where you will discover the National Museum, the Holy Trinity Cathedral, Mount Entoto, Africa's largest open air market, Merkato, Shiro Meda and Tommoca coffee with Access Eco Trekking Tours!
Morning :
After breakfast, drive or hike to Mount Entoto. We arrive at a small ancient town on top of Mount Entoto which was the capital of Ethiopia before Addis Ababa.
Here you will have a panoramic view of the city with the fresh air of the eucalyptus forests. Here you will visit the Maryam Church of Entoto, the museum and the story of the famous Ethiopian Emperor Minilk II, his wife Empress Taytu and the Adwa War.
After the tour, head down to Addis Ababa via Shiro Meda, the city's largest market for traditional clothing.
Visit the Addis Ababa University Campus at the Ethnographic Museum, with major exhibitions of Ethiopia's many cultures, located in the former Haile Selassie Palace.
Continue with a visit to the National Museum, home to Ethiopia's oldest resident, Lucy.
Close to the National Museum is the Selassie (Trinity) Church, one of the most important churches in Addis Ababa and Haile Selassie's final resting place, to which a museum is dedicated on site.
Finish the day by shopping in merkato, the local market which is considered the largest open-air market in Africa, and testing Ethiopian coffee in "Tommoca".
Evening :
Farewell dinner in a traditional Ethiopian restaurant where dancers and musicians representing the country's many ethnic groups perform. Transfer to the airport for late evening departure if required.
