Located in the urban district of the Imperial in Grand-Bassam, now UNESCO heritage, the Lighthouse Grand-Bassam was built in 1 year (from 1913 to 1914) in order to replace the fixed light worn by a metal tower that was installed at the end of the wharf pier.
This lighthouse was located 1500 m north of the wharf landing stage inherited from a military architecture. From the top of its 17 m, its fire swept the horizon every 5 seconds, with a range of 30 km.
It operated from 1915 to 1951 to pass the relay to the lighthouse at Port-Bouët which operates to this day.
